Allow Us To Reintroduce Ourselves!

The Dunbar Project offers safe spaces for adult adoptees to connect, learn, and heal through workshops, activities, coaching and food.

With a focus on multiple minority adoptees, we provide three distinct groups for all adoptees, Black adoptees, and LGBTQIA+ adoptees.

Our goal is to reclaim the adoption narrative, reframe the world's view on adoption, and promote healing.

What People Are Saying

“Orgs like [this] are playing a leading role, with the aim of changing perceptions of adoption & bringing the lived experiences of adopted adults to prospective, new & long-standing adoptive parents ”

— Andrew Taylor for Byline Times

It was wonderful to finally find a space specific to this intersection. I've never found one before and it was so lovely to find a sense of community. Hearing people share stories very similar to mine really made me feel more at ease with my own experiences and understand perhaps where certain feelings are rooted. I felt safe to be open and share my story and I'd love to be involved in more events in the future. Thank you so much for holding this much-needed space.

“Thank you for having me! It was one of the most poignant, moving, raw, honest, validating, ‘seen’ evenings I’ve had in my entire life. Thank you for doing all that you do to raise awareness of our adoption trauma.

— Liz (Adoptee)

[This organisation] have been a lifeline for me. I think they have quite generally helped keep me here. They've certainly helped me flourish. They created a free ‘Adoptees Healing’ community for adoptees to come together and heal through educational and healing workshops, fun activities and food! Finding other adults who have similar experiences, speaking the same emotional language as me has been really amazing.
