The Dream Team

Shania (She/Her)

Shania, an adult adoptee and trainee integrative psychotherapist, is the Founding Director of The Dunbar Project. With a degree in Clinical Psychology, her lived experience and research on Black Adoptees and mental health guide her advocacy for adoptee rights. Through The Dunbar Project, she creates healing spaces for minority adoptees, fostering understanding and community.

Judzia (She/Her)

Director of Finance and Operations

Judzia's experience and expertise in operations management make her a valuable asset to our team. Her attention to detail and ability to analyze financial data ensures that our finances are always in order. She is also a great communicator and collaborator, always working closely with other departments to make sure everyone is on the same page.

Star (She/Her)

Support Group Facilitator

Star brings her lived experience as a Black adoptee to her role, running support groups with a special focus on our Black Adoptee Support Groups. Given up for adoption at birth and moving through multiple families before the age of two, Star was ultimately adopted into a large Jamaican family with a background in social work and fostering.

For years, she avoided confronting the impact of early relinquishment, interrupted attachment, and adoption-specific trauma. A pivotal moment came when watching This Is Us, which unearthed feelings she had long suppressed and eventually led her to The Dunbar Project—a turning point in her journey.

With a professional background as a Surveyor, Project Manager, and Mentor, Star finds her true passion in facilitating groups that provide connection and healing for adoptees.
